Family life has never been busier, and that holds especially true when you’re juggling the demands of family life with a busy career in medicine. Somehow in the hustle of it all, we find today’s children are lagging in both their willingness and their ability to be independent, self-reliant and accountable for their responsibilities. This puts even more demands on our time and energy.

In this session, Alyson will help us understand the factors that have led to a generation of dependent and often anxious children. She’ll offer the strategies we can implement immediately to begin the process of empowering our children to gain the independence they require for each age and stage of development, so we can regain our own peace and sanity!

Learning Objectives:

At the conclusion of this activity, participants will be able to:

  1. Detect factors that lead to dependance and anxiousness in children.

  2. Apply actionable strategies in their home environments to encourage independence in their children.

  3. Support their own mental well-being by empowering their children in an age-appropriate and stage-appropriate manner.
